From the "Where are they now?" files- In January 2007, Amir Riven ('05) and his College A Cappella group, The Binghamton Crosbys, performed an incredible private concert for Concert Choir, weeks before their performance at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. More from the "Where are they now?" files- In early 2005, Jared Buchbinder ('04) was offered a casting contract with Walt Disney Entertainment! From March through August 2005, Jared performed as Aladdin in California's Disneyland! Three shows a day, he had the lead in "Disney's Aladdin- A Musical Spectacular", a 60-minute live stage-version of the animated classic! More from the "Where are they now?" files- John Anthony ('83) has the distinction of studying with the 2 longest-tenured Calhoun Choral Directors, S. Talbot Thayer (1958-1985) and Sanford Sardo (1993-present). John was a member of one of Mr. Thayer's last Calhoun Choirs, and returned to Calhoun in 2000 to student-teach with Mr. Sardo. Today, Mr. Anthony is the Director of the Central Islip High School Choir, a fast-growing program in Suffolk County!
- Mr. S. Talbot Thayer, Calhoun's first and longest-tenured Choral Director (1958-1985) has been awarded the Dr. Helen Hosmer Award by the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam! Mr. Thayer was honored for his many achievements in public education. The Crane School has also help to establish the S. Talbot Thayer and Nancy Thayer James Music Scholarship, which is awarded annually to a junior Music Education student at Crane. Click here for a related article!

- More from the "Where are they now?" files- Earl Green is one of Long Island's hottest new bands! Two of Earl Green's members (Dan Silverman '97 and Mat Stegner '98) are CCP Alumni, and another member (Sal Finelli) is married to CCP Alumna Nancy Stegner '94! The band made it to the final round of the Long Island Music Festival in both 2002 and 2004! Sponsored by Good Times Magazine, the competition pitts 100 local bands against each other in a 1st round/ semi-finals/ finals format. By performing at the Finals, held at Mulcahy's, Earl Green has established themselves as one of the top 10 bands on Long Island. Congratulations to Mat, Dan, Sal, and the rest of the band!

- Consider joining the Calhoun Music Boosters Association! This group of dedicated parents and alumni are instrumental in the smooth running of the CCP. The CMBA has co-sponsored the "Music in Motion Concert", sponsored the Music Department Banquet and the "Nifty Shin-dig", donated a sound system to the Instrumental Program, purchased a tree and menorah for the Winter Concert, and donated a new message board to the music dept.!
